Pewaukee Lake

Pewaukee Lake is a lake located in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, United States. Lake Pewaukee is the largest lake located in Waukesha's "Lake Country." The lake is west of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is approximately 5 miles long and 1 mile wide. The deepest part of the lake is 46 feet.
The lake is known for its inland sailing races. National sailing events take place annually and are often hosted by the Pewaukee Yacht Club located on the southern shore of the lake.
The lake is also known for its abundance of fish, including Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Muskellunge (Muskie), Northern Pike, Tiger Muskellunge (Tiger Muskie), Walleye, Yellow Perch and non-native Carp. The most 50 plus inch muskies in the state are caught on Pewaukee lake per year.
Lake Pewaukee experienced high waters and flood during the spring and summer of 2008. The flood caused millions of dollars in damages to the surrounding area.
==History==

Pewaukee Lake, has long been a summertime destination for Milwaukee residents. In winter months, ice was often removed from the lake for residents in Milwaukee in the 1800s.
